Wrangell Medical Center

Welcome to Wrangell Medical Center (WMC). WMC is proudly part of the SEARHC Care Network and we are pleased to be your medical provider of choice and encourage you to use this guide as a resource to help you and your family navigate WMC’s clinics and find information about our services.

WMC is a Critical Access Hospital and Long-Term Care Facility. WMC provides essential services, including emergency care, acute care, transitional care and long-term care. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for all we serve.

Emergency Care

WMC’s Emergency Department offers:

  • Registered nurse on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Physician on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Available for treatment of all minor illnesses, injuries and hospital admission.

If your emergency requires a higher level of care than can be provided at a Critical Access Hospital, you will be stabilized and medically evacuated to another facility.

Acute Care

Acute care is for patients who are admitted for short-term medical treatment of an illness or injury. An acute care stay at the hospital is measured in days rather than weeks and also includes outpatient and short-stay care. Acute care patients are provided a registered nurse on duty 24 hours a day, an on-call physician 24 hours a day, and room amenities including local calls, internet access, cable TV and guest meals.

Please contact the front desk at 907.874.7000 for information on what other procedures or treatments are available at Wrangell Medical Center.
