An internal medicine specialist, who practices hospital medicine called a “hospitalist” will often be the one overseeing your care at Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center. Their clinical focus is caring for hospitalized patients.

By focusing their practice on this specific group of patients, hospitalists gain specialized knowledge in managing very ill patients and are able to provide high-quality, evidence-based, and efficient patient and family-centered care in hospital settings. They can also coordinate care with other medical specialists as needed to ensure continuity between inpatient and outpatient settings.
