Emergency Department
The Emergency Department at MEMC is a Level IV Trauma Center staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by board-certified physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and registered nurses who specialize in care for patients with serious illnesses and injuries.
MEMC ED services include the evaluation and stabilization of patients transferred from other facilities or communities and patients who may require transfer to higher levels of care. MEMC will provide emergency medical screening and stabilization to all individuals in accordance with the Emergency Medical Services/Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act Policy (EMTLA).
Inpatient Care
MEMC provides 24/7 in-house hospitalists dedicated to the delivery of comprehensive medical care to patients. Your primary care physician (PCP) and our board-certified physicians and midlevel providers will plan and manage your treatment together throughout your stay.
Once admitted to the hospital, your hospitalist coordinates your course of treatment, including ordering diagnostic imaging studies and lab work. Your hospitalist works with you and your family and will personally answer or discuss questions you have about your illness, medications, and diagnostic and treatment processes during your hospitalization.
Transitional Care
Our Transitional Care, or swing bed, program features specialized nursing care and emphasizes rehabilitation services, wound care and advanced respiratory care. With 25 beds in shared and private rooms, the program is for patients who no longer require acute care in the hospital but need and meet the requirements for additional short-term care. Patients benefit from 24/7 medical care, advanced therapies and a welcoming environment closer to home. Learn more about our Transitional Care program.
Surgical Services
The Surgery Department at MEMC provides comprehensive surgical services for patients of all ages. Our surgery facilities often allow patients to come in for same-day surgery and leave after a few hours to recover at home with family and friends when an overnight stay is not necessary. Your provider will determine the length of your stay based on the procedure.
