Wrangell Medical Center – Hospital Services

Emergency Care at WMC’s Emergency Department offers:

• Registered nurse on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
• Physician on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Available for treatment of all minor illnesses, injuries and hospital admission.
  If your emergency requires a higher level of care than can be provided at a Critical Access Hospital, you will be stabilized and medically evacuated to another facility.
• Inpatient Care: Acute care is for patients who are admitted for short-term medical treatment of an illness or injury. An acute care stay at the hospital is measured in days rather than weeks and also includes outpatient and short-stay care. Acute care patients are provided a registered nurse on duty 24 hours a day, an on-call physician 24 hours a day, and room amenities including local calls, internet access, cable TV and guest meals.

• Transitional Care: Our Transitional Care, or swing bed, program provides compassionate care for patients who need additional support before returning home. With 8 transitional care beds in private and shared rooms, patients benefit from 24/7 medical care, advanced therapies and a welcoming environment closer to home. Whether recovering from surgery, managing a complex illness, or building strength after an injury, our team tailors each patient’s care plan to meet their unique needs.
