Refill or Renewal? What’s the Difference
Understanding the difference between a refill and a renewal can help you avoid delays in getting your medications.
Refill
If your prescription is still active and has refills remaining, you can request a refill through the Rx365 Mobile App, by phone, or in person. The pharmacy will prepare your medication up to the number of refills originally authorized by your provider.
Example: If your prescription includes three (3) refills, you can request it until those three are used.
Renewal
If your prescription has expired or no refills remain, a renewal is needed. This means the pharmacy must contact your provider to request a new prescription. Renewals may take additional time, especially if your provider requires a follow-up appointment before approving the request.
Tip: Check your prescription label to see how many refills are left. If you’re running low and no refills remain, request a renewal at least one week before your medication runs out.
