Helping Kids Build Skills for Daily Life
SEARHC’s Pediatric Occupational Therapists (OTs) help children develop the skills they need for independence, confidence and daily success in self-care, school and play. The goal of Occupational Therapy is to empower children with the skills they need to participate fully in daily life, build confidence and thrive in their environment.
Who do we help?
We work with children of all ages who may have:
- Difficulty with fine motor skills (writing, buttoning clothes, using utensils)
- Challenges with picky eating, feeding and oral motor control
- Sensory sensitivities (to sounds, textures, or movement)
- Delays in self-care skills (dressing, eating, toileting)
- Difficulty with focus, attention or social interactions
- Developmental disabilities or physical challenges
- Need for environmental adaptations to improve access at home or community
- Gross motor strengthening and motor planning
- Pediatric pelvic floor strengthening for incontinence and constipation
What skills do we work on?
- Fine Motor Skills – Writing, cutting, grasping small objects
- Gross Motor Skills – Balance, coordination, strength for daily tasks
- Sensory Processing – Helping kids manage reactions to sights, sounds and textures
- Self-Care & Independence – Dressing, feeding, hygiene skills
- Social & Play Skills – Taking turns, making friends, managing emotions
- Executive Functioning – Organization, attention and problem-solving
