Ophthalmology
Our ophthalmologists are trusted experts in the health of your eyes and vision. Different from optometrists who prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses to correct your vision, an ophthalmologist can prescribe medication and perform surgery to treat your more serious eye conditions.
If you have a complex eye injury or disease, you may need care from an ophthalmologist. They will work with your primary care provider to screen and treat the following conditions:
- Cataracts
- Eye disease/Eye surgery
- Eye trauma
- Eyelid abnormalities
- Glaucoma
- Prematurity-related eye problems
- Strabismus
To make an appointment with our ophthalmologist, talk to your provider about a referral today.
Specialty Care services are available to all Alaska residents and primarily take place in Sitka and Juneau. If you are a patient who is interested in traveling to attend one of these clinics, please speak with your provider. Patient housing is available but call as soon as possible because space is limited.
If you are a patient already scheduled for a specialty clinic and need to change your appointment, or if you have general questions about the specialty services we offer, please call 907.966.HERE or email specialtycare@searhc.org.
