Among the number of awards Lisa has attained throughout her career, she has earned The Outstanding Montana Family Medicine Practice Resident of the Year, the Morris K. Udall National Scholarship and was published in Family Physicians Inquiries Network.

Education and Experience
Lisa graduated Summa cum laude at the University of New Mexico with a BA in Languages, and earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Prior to joining SEARHC, she completed her residency in Billings, MT.
She said, “Being Native American (family from Laguna Pueblo in NM), I am very passionate about serving an indigenous community and the opportunity to be part of a team that serves such a large native population even in the most remote of areas. It is exciting to learn about a new people and their culture and become involved in the Sitka community.”
Personal Interests
Lisa has special medical interests in rural, wilderness medicine, global health and international medicine, and wound care.
She enjoys a number of outdoor activities, especially hiking, fishing and mushroom hunting (a new hobby since moving to Sitka) with her significant other and husky dog named Duke. She also enjoys rock climbing, running, and crossword puzzles.
