More about our services

Emergency Department

  • The Emergency Department is where providers, nurses and specialists are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to care for patients with serious illnesses and injuries. If your emergency requires a higher level of care than can be provided at a Critical Access Hospital, you will be stabilized and medically evacuated to another facility.

Infusion Therapy

  • SEARHC offers comprehensive outpatient infusion therapy services, providing patients in Southeast Alaska with access to vital treatments closer to home. Our dedicated team of experienced nurses collaborate with your healthcare provider to administer medications and therapies in a comfortable and caring environment.

Inpatient Care

  • Inpatient Care, also known as acute care, is for patients who are admitted for short-term medical treatment of an illness or injury. An acute care stay at the hospital is measured in days rather than weeks and includes outpatient and short-stay care. Acute care patients are provided with a registered nurse on duty 24 hours a day, an on-call physician 24 hours a day, and room amenities including local calls, internet access, cable TV and meals.

Labor & Delivery

  • Our team at the SEARHC Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center is committed to understanding and respecting your preferences and your personalized birth plan. We have 24/7 on-call coverage for anesthesia and cesarean delivery (C-section), as well as a full-time, board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist, who may be consulted for high-risk patients or operative deliveries when needed. Board-certified physicians are available for emergency care. The team of highly trained and experienced staff will do everything possible to make your child and family feel safe and comfortable through the labor and delivery process.

Outpatient Care

  • Outpatient Care provides medical treatment that doesn’t require an overnight stay. Some examples of Outpatient Care are routine Primary Care visits, bloodwork and urine tests, colonoscopies, mammograms and chemotherapy.

Respiratory Therapy

  • SEARHC’s respiratory therapy team treats pulmonary conditions to help patients regain as much of their daily function as possible. Respiratory therapy uses exercises and treatments that help patients suffering from asthma, emphysema or pneumonia recover lung function or maintain and improve respiratory function.

Surgical Services

  • SEARHC provides comprehensive surgical services for patients of all ages. We also offer same-day surgery which allows many patients to leave after a few hours to recover comfortably at home.

Transitional Care

  • Transitional Care, or swing bed care, bridges the gap between inpatient hospital stays and outpatient recovery. SEARHC provides personalized support for patients who require extra time and/or therapy to heal and regain strength as well as independence before returning home. A patient’s length of stay can vary based on their individual needs.
