Education and Experience
Dr. Amanda Underwood completed her medical education at Indiana University School of Medicine, graduating in 2014. Following this, she pursued residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the same institution, graduating in 2018.
Embarking on a career as an academic generalist OB/Gyn, Dr. Underwood served as a dedicated supervisor to OB/Gyn residents for three years, while simultaneously caring for her own panel of patients. This role allowed her to hone her clinical expertise and nurture long-term relationships with her patients. Subsequently, she transitioned to the role of obstetric hospitalist, where she managed high-risk obstetric patients at Riley Maternity Center at Indiana University Health. In this capacity, she provided expert care to expectant mothers facing complex medical conditions, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and child.
Dr. Underwood finds fulfillment in her work by caring for patients through all stages of life and during pivotal life transitions. She cherishes the opportunity to develop deep, trusting relationships with her patients over time, understanding that these connections are integral to providing personalized and compassionate care. Amanda is dedicated to working collaboratively with her patients, empowering them to actively participate in their healthcare journey and achieve their health goals.
Personal Interests
Outside of her medical practice, Amanda cherishes spending time outdoors with her husband and children. She also finds delight in culinary pursuits, crafting and exploring new destinations through travel.
