Education and Experience
Kyle Kennedy earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA. He later pursued a master’s degree in clinical counseling psychology from Brenau University in Gainesville, GA. His journey into the field of behavioral health began with internships at the Brenau Center for Counseling and Psychological Services and Tabitha’s House, Inc., where he gained valuable experience in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following his internships, Kyle served as an Itinerant Therapist with the Maniilaq Association in Kotzebue, Alaska, from January 2022 to April 2024. In this role, he provided outpatient mental health and substance use counseling to adults and adolescents, both in-person and through telehealth. His work extended throughout the Northwest Arctic Borough, including monthly trips to village clinics in Noorvik and Kiana to offer in-person services. Kyle’s responsibilities included conducting assessments, treatment planning, leading substance use groups, providing individual anger management counseling and performing crisis intervention. He also coordinated services for patients requiring treatment as mandated by courts, probation and the Office of Children’s Services.
In May 2024, Kyle joined the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) at the Vintage Park Campus, bringing his extensive experience and passion for helping others to the SEARHC community.
Kyle finds forming genuine, meaningful connections with his patients to be one of the most rewarding aspects of his work. He believes that mutual trust and respect serve as primary motivators for change. His counseling approach is collaborative, person-centered and existential . Kyle is deeply fulfilled by witnessing his patients explore, grow and become empowered to take charge of the challenges they face in life.
Personal Interests
Outside of his professional life, Kyle enjoys a variety of activities. At home, he loves cooking, playing guitar, listening to music, watching movies, playing video games, and staying connected with friends and family. He is also an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hiking, fishing, kayaking, attending live concerts, traveling, and simply being in nature. While he will miss riding his snowmobile in Kotzebue, he looks forward to skiing at Eaglecrest during the winter months.
