Education and Experience
Kristen holds a Master of Science in Nursing degree and certificate in nursing from the Yale University School of Nursing. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and anthropology from Middlebury College.
Prior to joining the staff at the SEARHC Mt. Edgecumbe High School Student Health Center, Kristen spent 6 1/2 years working at the U.S. Coast Guard-Air Station Sitka Medical Clinic. She also worked as a public health nurse with the state’s Sitka Public Health Center and a community health aide/practitioner supervisor/field clinician for SEARHC. Kristen has worked with Planned Parenthood of Alaska. When she first came to Sitka, Kristen worked as a health-planning intern at SEARHC in 1990. Before that, she worked in tribal health with the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa in Michigan.
Personal Interests
Kristen’s medical interests include pediatrics, adolescent and women’s health. She also enjoys reading, hiking, running and spending time with her family.
