Education and Experience
Katie completed her undergraduate studies at Eastern Washington University, earning her Bachelor of Science in exercise science. She then returned home to Sitka, where she entered the medical field at SEARHC as a VHOP chaperone and administrative assistant in the operating room. During that time, she also studied to become a certified medical assistant (CMA) through the University of Alaska Southeast. She worked as a CMA at the SEARHC surgery clinic and in primary care at Sitka Medical Center until she was accepted into physician assistant (PA) school. She received her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City in 2021. She is nationally certified as a PA-C.
Professionally, she sees patients of all ages, with a particular interest in women’s health. She enjoys working closely with the other providers at Sitka Medical Center.
Katie is part Tlingit, Deisheetaan of Wrangell, and was born and raised in Sitka. She is happy to be home and to share her skill set with the community that supported her throughout her life and studies.
Personal Interests
Outside of work, she loves to spend time with her new baby and husband, family, and friends. You can often find her on the trails, in the garden, hiking up the nearby mountains, on the water, or at the softball fields.
