BRIDGES Dental Study

Improving Oral Health for Southeast Alaska Seniors

< Return to Dental Care

The BRIDGES Dental Study is a partnership between SEARHC and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This innovative study aims to improve oral health for seniors in Southeast Alaska by reducing untreated tooth decay and gum disease. Better oral health means a better quality of life and overall well-being. Together, we can create brighter, healthier smiles for our elders!

Key Study Objectives

  • Track oral health changes in 600 seniors over three years.
  • Develop improved prevention and treatment strategies for tooth decay and gum disease.
  • Enhance clinical decision-making for senior dental care.

Who Can Participate

You may qualify if you are:

  • 60 years or older, and
  • Diagnosed with or treated for tooth decay (dental caries) or gum disease (periodontitis) within the last six months.
