WIC Services Are Evolving

Same WIC Benefits. New WIC Provider. 

Starting July 1, 2025, SEARHC will transition away from providing WIC (Women, Infants and Children) services as part of our efforts to focus more closely on the core healthcare services we offer to Southeast communities. While SEARHC will no longer issue WIC benefits after June 30, your WIC support will continue without interruption. We look forward to continuing to connect with current WIC families through our Community Wellness programs, nutrition services and our expanded offerings with primary care. No action is needed from you.

SEARHC is pleased to share that the State of Alaska’s Midnight Sun WIC Program will become the new WIC provider for families currently enrolled in the program through SEARHC. To best serve beneficiaries of the program, this transition will happen automatically — you do not need to reapply or take any additional steps beyond verifying your existing information. Your benefits will continue seamlessly, and your current WIC EBT cards will remain active and valid at participating stores as you are used to.

What’s Changing — and What’s Staying the Same

  • Same WIC Benefits, New WIC Provider.
  • Beginning July 1, 2025, the Midnight Sun WIC Program, operated by the State of Alaska, will take over service delivery.
  • No gap in benefits — your WIC records will transfer automatically.
  • You’ll keep your EBT card and shop at the same stores.
  • Communication and services will continue remotely, with expanded access to email and digital tools.

What You Can Do to Prepare

  • Confirm your contact information:  Before June 30, call SEARHC WIC at 907.463.4099 to confirm your email address. The Midnight Sun WIC team will use email to share nutrition information and send forms.
  • Get ready to connect remotely:  After July 1, submit documents by scanning or photographing them and emailing, faxing or mailing them.
  • Make Sure Your Contact Info Is Current:  Before July 1, verify your email address is up to date by calling SEARHC WIC at 907.463.4099 e. Midnight Sun WIC will use the email on file to contact you, share nutrition information and send electronic WIC forms.

  •  How to Submit Documents:

    After July 1, 2025, WIC services will be provided remotely. The most efficient way to get in touch with your WIC representatives will be by email. If you have WIC paperwork, you can:

    • Take a photo or scan it; then email  to: doh.wic.services@alaska.gov
    • Or fax/mail it using the contact information above

    EBT Card and Shopping:

    You can continue using your current WIC EBT card and shop at the same stores. Midnight Sun WIC will keep loading your WIC foods onto the same card. You can check your benefit balance anytime using the WIC Shopper app.
