SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) hosted the 2024 ROAR (Reclaim, Own and Renew) Women’s Conference. The two-day gathering was dedicated to advancing holistic well-being for Alaskan Women by sharing wisdom and experience across generations.

The 2024 ROAR Women’s Conference was a profound experience, leaving attendees with a sense of empowerment and connection. The event featured a diverse lineup of speakers and panelists who shared their personal stories and insights on various aspects of women’s wellness and wholeness.
Friday Highlights:
- Dr. Cate Buley, Vice President and Medical Director of Primary Care Services for SEARHC, kicked off the conference with an inspiring presentation on wellness across generations and finding Igaki.
- Gen Z keynote speaker Thalia Bunton captivated the audience with her perspective on wellness, wisdom, and wholeness for young women. Her presentation “The Importance of Intention: Achieving Wellness Through Routine” gave practical tips on day to day living and making time and space for things that matter to you.
- Later she was joined by our moderator, Christina Michelle, and the rest of her Gen Z cohort to discuss their experiences, goals and hardships.
Saturday Highlights:
- Dr. Jaunelle Celaire, an internationally celebrated lyric-soprano and Professor of Voice, shared her journey, her relationship with her mother and the role that the Baby Boomers in paving the way for the next generations of women.
- Valerie Nurr’araluk Davidson, President & CEO of Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC), presented on Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) scores, their impacts on health outcomes and her personal experiences in successfully moving forward and beyond her traumatic experiences.
- Iveth Bedolla, System Director of Finance for SEARHC, provided valuable insights into navigating the realities of health and wellness as a millenial, mother and career woman.
- Dr. Rosita Worl and her granddaughter, Miranda Worl, engaged attendees in an intergenerational discussion about passing generational knowledge through family members and incorporating culture as part of their healing.

Overall, the conference provided a platform for women of all ages to learn, connect and be inspired by each other’s stories. It was a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience within the SEARHC community.
