Nurses are an integral part of healthcare, offering compassion, expertise and unwavering dedication to their patients and communities. At SEARHC, we are proud to participate in the DAISY Award program, a globally recognized initiative that honors nurses for the extraordinary care they provide every day. This program reflects SEARHC’s commitment to excellence, compassion and community.
Why SEARHC Participates in the DAISY Program
In 2024, SEARHC proudly joined the DAISY Award program to celebrate and uplift our nurses, whose care is at the core of what we do. By participating in this program, SEARHC reflects its deep commitment to recognizing excellence, fostering inspiration and upholding the values that guide our mission. Through this initiative, we honor their extraordinary contributions, encourage future generations to pursue careers in nursing and highlight the critical role they play in the health and well-being of Southeast Alaska communities.
About the DAISY Award
The DAISY Award was established in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away after an eight-week hospitalization. During his care, Patrick’s family witnessed the profound impact nurses had on his experience, inspiring them to create the DAISY Foundation to express gratitude to nurses worldwide. The Foundation’s mission is to celebrate nurses who make a profound difference in the lives of their patients. DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem.
Today, the DAISY Award is celebrated in more than 6,500 healthcare organizations across 40+ countries. Nurses are nominated by patients, families and colleagues for their extraordinary compassion and clinical excellence.
