Shirley earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Akron in Ohio. She has more than 30 years’ experience in psychiatric nursing, including six years in Kotzebue with the Maniilaq Health Center.

Shirley’s medical interests include the holistic approach in improving mental health across the adult lifespan. She specializes in adult psychiatric mental health nursing, and she has extensive experience in treating patients with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders.
