Biography

I am inspired seeing the resilience of the human body and soul. The eye is a structure that does not heal the same way as the rest of the body and damage is often permanent, leading to vision loss and reduced quality of life. Despite injuries and vision loss, countless individuals are still able to live active fulfilling lives. Improving or restoring a patient’s vision can be life changing and can be a crucial part to allowing the patient to live an even more fulfilling life.

Specifically, I am passionate about specialty contact lens fitting, as it can be a restorative process where rigid lenses can be used to correct for abnormalities in a patient’s cornea, resulting in the restoration of some vision. Often, it is enough to improve patient function and independence. It is an extremely tangible process and progress, and improvement can be observed with each new lens iteration.
