Brad Parfitt, a Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role. With an array of certifications including MSW, CDC II, EMDIRA certified EMDR therapist, MRT, and MOAB instructor, Brad’s educational journey began at the University of Alaska, progressing from UAS to the BSW program at UAF and culminating in his MSW from UAA. Brad’s professional tenure in the radio broadcast industry as an on-air personality (DJ) for approximately 12 years, notably at KINY/KSUP in Juneau, shaped his career trajectory towards helping professions.
Transitioning from the broadcasting world, Brad explored teaching, initially drawn to instructing interns from high school and university programs. However, his pivotal experience with a non-profit called Dreams during an internship at UAS introduced him to counseling and clinical social work. Subsequently, Brad embarked on a decade-long journey at Juneau Youth Services, specializing in wilderness therapy trips, transitional living programs, and eventually delving into substance abuse treatment at Gastineau Human Services for over 11 years. His work spanned various settings, including outpatient, residential programs, and involvement with the Juneau Therapeutic Court Program. Personal Interests
Beyond his professional pursuits, Brad’s passions encompass an adventurous spirit. He delights in snorkeling in tropical climates, kayaking, snowboarding, back-country camping, and riding his Harley Road King motorcycle. His love for music draws him to “jam band” rock concerts, and he revels in exploring new destinations through travel adventures. Brad’s interests complement his dedication to counseling, reflecting his holistic approach to life and personal well-being.
