Education and Experience
Dr. Jonathan Motts graduated from the University of South Carolina with a double major in biology and chemistry and a minor in Spanish. He later attended the Medical University of South Carolina’s College of Medicine where he received his medical degree. Following completion of his residency at Swedish Cherry Hill Rural Training Program, Dr. Motts moved to North Carolina where he started a fellowship in rural medicine at the Mountain Area Health Education Consortium and moonlighted as a hybrid emergency room doctor/hospitalist in a critical access hospital in Western NC. Dr. Motts resigned from his fellowship to join the house staff at Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center. His interests include the broad spectrum that family medicine has to offer, addiction medicine and point of care ultrasound.
Personal Interests
Dr. Motts considers working in Sitka his dream job. In his free time, he enjoys permaculture, the culinary arts, and all things outdoors on land and sea.
