Education and Experience
Meaghan Lamothe, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), graduated with a Master of Science and Nurse Practitioner Certification from the University of New Hampshire. Prior to earning her graduate degree, Meaghan worked as a registered nurse and was involved with the Family Service of Merrimack Valley as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in the custody of the Department of Health & Human Services. Prior to joining SEARHC Meaghan worked in rural coastal Maine, near Acadia National Park, as a Family Nurse Practitioner in primary care where she cared for families and individuals across their lifespan with a variety of diagnoses.
Meaghan is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner and holds certifications in BLS, ACLS and PALS while also waivered to provide medication assisted therapy for opiate use disorder.
Meaghan feels that the most rewarding part of her work is empowering patients to manage their conditions and the way they feel. She believes that she has done her most valuable work when a patient understands their diagnosis or symptoms better and has the knowledge to improve the quality of their own life. Meaghan says “I also love when my patients teach me, as they often do. It is an honor when a patient shares their story with me.”
Personal Interests
Outside of work Meaghan enjoys reading, improving her piano and enjoying the outdoors with walks, gardening, and kayaking. Since moving to Juneau, she has a newfound interest in foraging for wild berries.
