Education and Experience
Dawn King has been nurse for 26 years, graduating from the University of Wyoming with a bachelors in nursing. She started her nursing career at Cheyenne Veterans Administration hospital in Wyoming and as adjunct faculty for a local nursing program at Laramie County Community College. Dawn continued her nursing practice at Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota as an Emergency Department nurse for a busy level 1 trauma center facility that served as the tertiary care center for 48 local hospitals. Caring for patients in a variety of crisis situations with a high level of acuity helped to create a global knowledge base for her. In 2014, Dawn graduated from Winona State University as a Family Nurse Practitioner and transitioned into Family Medicine at Mayo Clinic.
Dawn’s wholistic health care approach considers all parts of wellness including physical, mental, social, spiritual, and family health. Dawn has earned a reputation within her previous clinics as being a provider who meets her patients “where they are”, which has allowed her to care for multiple generations of families under her care. As a nurse practitioner Dawn can care for patients from birth to elderly years. Dawn is a LGTBQIA friendly provider and is passionate about patient education, advocacy and empowerment; maintaining patient care that keeps patients out of the emergency room. Underserved populations and people struggling with addiction, and basic life needs can feel heard, validated and helped when they are cared for by Dawn.
