Education and Experience
Dr. Doaty received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from American University and her Doctor of Medicine from George Washington University. She completed her internal medicine residency with a focus in primary care and community health at George Washington University, where she helped start the first student-run clinic. During her residency, she fell in love with Alaska while on a month-long rotation on Kodiak Island. She worked as a locum tenens hospitalist with The Alaska Hospitalist Group in Anchorage for a year before attending a rheumatology fellowship at UCLA.
Upon completing her fellowship, she returned to Alaska where she worked as a rheumatologist at the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium from 2016 until 2022, serving as Rheumatology Service Chief from 2020 until 2022.
Dr. Doaty worked as a clinical rheumatologist at Virginia Mason in Seattle for two years before returning to Alaska in 2025. She is honored and delighted to be serving communities throughout Southeast Alaska at SEARHC.
Dr. Doaty treats a broad range of autoimmune diseases including inflammatory arthritis, myositis, systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma and Sjogren’s syndrome as well as gout and osteoarthritis. She utilizes a patient-centered, collaborative care model and enjoys working with patients to incorporate diet and physical activity along with cultural and spiritual practices into their treatment plans.
Dr. Doaty is involved in research examining the impact of cultural connectedness on disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis on the Blackfeet Reservation in Browning, Montana. She also serves as the rheumatology lead for University of Washington’s Alaska Internal Medicine Rural Residency Program in Soldotna.
She is a strong patient advocate and has previously served on the Government Affairs Committee at the American College of Rheumatology and chaired the Health and Public Policy Committee for the Alaska Chapter of the American College of Rheumatology.
Personal Interests
Outside of work, Dr. Doaty enjoys cooking, fishing, playing tennis, and spending time outdoors with friends and family. Lately, she’s especially enjoyed exploring the beaches, trails and tide pools along the coastlines of Southeast Alaska.
