National Nutrition Month

National Nutrition Month is an annual campaign created 50 years ago in 1973 by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. During the month of March, everyone is invited to learn about making informed food choices and developing healthful eating and physical activity habits.

This year SEARHC is focused on celebrating culture through food. We’ve worked with community members to provide recipes with ties to a few of our diverse cultures in the region: Alaskan Native, Filipino, Mexican and Norwegian.

For Sitka residents we’ll be hosting a series of free nutrition talks at the Hames Center where you can learn from SEARHC registered dietitians on how to improve your diet to help you live a healthy, active lifestyle.
