Education

Dr. Kimberly Bakkes attended Princeton University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. Later she attended medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Both her Medical Doctor and Master of Public Health degrees were attained at Tulane. Before coming to Alaska, Dr. Bakkes experiences took her across the globe. She worked for Gardiner Family Medicine and Greater Portland Medical Group, both in Maine. Dr. Bakkes practiced medicine at Urgent Treatment Centers in Lexington, Kentucky. She also worked for 24 Hour Surgery (urgent care) in Christchurch, New Zealand and McMurdo Station, Antarctica.

After arriving in Alaska, Dr. Bakkes has worked up north at Maniilaq Health Center in Kotzebue. In Southeast, she has practiced at Alicia Roberts Medical Center, Sitka Medical Center and Sitka Community Hospital. Dr. Bakkes joined the SEARHC Care Network in August, 2019.

Biography

Before joining SEARHC in August 2019, Dr. Bakkes worked in Maine, Kentucky, New Zealand, Antarctica and Kotzebue, Alaska. In Southeast Alaska, she has practiced at Alicia Roberts Medical Center, Sitka Medical Center and Sitka Community Hospital.

Personal Interests

Family medicine across all ages, women’s health and joint injections. She no longer provides prenatal and OB care.
