Community Wellness

SEARHC Community Wellness promotes accessible, culturally respectful health services designed to improve the overall health and wellness of our communities. Our team of caregivers encompasses nutritionists, dietitians, health educators, clinical programs managers, case managers and more. Through initiatives such as cancer screenings, diabetes care, nutrition education, and women’s health programs, we educate our communities and support SEARHC’s vision to promote a healthy balance of mind, body and spirit.

Our Services

The Breast & Cervical Health Program assists women with accessing services for breast and cervical cancer prevention, detection, treatment, and survivorship resources . This program is designed to help catch cancer early, improve outcomes, and support long-term health and quality of life . It is offered to all women in Southeast Alaska, whether they meet the grant eligibility for financial assistance or otherwise.

SEARHC provides diabetes self-management education and support as well as case management, and health promotion activities to individuals throughout Southeast Alaska living with diabetes, gestational diabetes or prediabetes.

SEARHC provides comprehensive Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and nutrition counseling to help individuals meet their health and wellness goals. Our registered dietitians (RDs) work closely with patients to develop personalized meal plans and dietary strategies tailored to individual needs. Whether you’re managing chronic conditions, recovering from surgery or optimizing nutrition for overall well-being, we are here to support you. We work with patients across the region and collaborate with local organizations for community outreach programs and events, bringing expert nutrition guidance and service closer to home.

WISEWOMAN program provides risk reduction for women ages 30-64 who are income eligible. This includes cardiovascular screening, health coaching, nutrition support, exercise guidance, and more!

The Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) is a collaborative process used by SEARHC to identify and prioritize the most pressing health needs across Southeast Alaska. By gathering input from community members, partners, and data sources, the CHNA helps guide programs, services, and resources to improve overall health outcomes. It ensures that SEARHC’s efforts are responsive, data-informed, and aligned with community priorities.
