What is Prediabetes?

Prediabetes means having higher than normal blood sugar levels, the blood sugar levels are not high enough yet to be considered type 2 diabetes. Prediabetes is tricky to diagnose because there aren’t usually signs or symptoms. If you have prediabetes there may be some long-term damage starting with your kidneys, heart and blood vessels. In the United States, 96 million adults have prediabetes.  If you have prediabetes, you might feel scared, but taking action is the best medicine. The good news is that prediabetes can be reversed!rnrnTake this 1 minute prediabetes test! If your score shows your risk is high, please make an appointment to visit your provider to get tested.rnrnIt’s important to know that lifestyle changes can return blood sugar levels to a normal range, which can prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. Eating healthier foods, moving more, and learning about what causes type 2 diabetes can have a huge impact! Getting 150 minutes of activity a week can help! Work with your provider or a diabetes case manager to develop a treatment plan.rn
