SEARHC Receives Quality Health Care Award

JUNEAU – SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) is proud to announce Mt. Edgcumbe Hospital won one of only four 2016 Hospital Quality Achievement Awards given by Mountain-Pacific Quality Health. It is the top award given by the organization. The four Alaska hospitals accepted their awards during the Alaska State Hospital and Nursing Home Association (ASHNHA) Annual Conference in Soldotna on September 1, 2016.

The four hospitals that received the Quality Achievement Award were:

“Mountain-Pacific has worked with these exemplary hospitals for many years, and no matter how large or small or urban or rural, it is always amazing to watch the hard work that goes into creating high-quality health care that ultimately creates a safer and healthier environment for the patient,” said Mountain-Pacific’s Alaska State Director, Sharon Scudder. “Health care landscapes are changing, and with the presence of highly infectious diseases affecting our communities and with increased government mandates in reporting, we applaud these hospitals for providing the highest quality of hospital care in Alaska. It most likely rivals or exceeds care you would find throughout the United States.”

All Alaska hospitals are eligible for Hospital Quality Awards. Each recipient was required to meet eleven quality measures aimed at increasing patient safety and quality of service to qualify for the award.

“Achieving and maintaining quality services are core to our mission,”  said Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital’s Administrator, Jeff Prater. “We are proud MEH is one of only four hospitals in Alaska to earn the Quality Achievement Award. This is a testament to our staff’s focus and hard work as well as their dedication to providing excellent healthcare services to the Sitka community.”

SEARHC will continue working to ensure every patient receives the highest quality care possible.
