Education and Experience
Richard Kraft, MD, is a primary physician at Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center (MEMC). He worked at SEARHC from 1987-1995 as a family practice doctor after completing his family practice residency in Bismarck, North Dakota in 1987. He was the Angoon provider during this time period.
He moved to the Dakotas and continued working for the Indian Health Service as a medical provider and also owned and managed a small farm/ranch to teach his boys farm life, which he found challenging to balance both worlds.
After moving back to Sitka to practice medicine, he purchased and runs a small fishing lodge while working part-time in the Emergency Room during the off season.
He appreciates the friendships he has formed with both staff and patients over the years.
He enjoys working with family at the fishing lodge where his son’s are captains and his daughter-in-law is the chef.
