James Taggart, MD

Education and Experience
James received his BA in Spanish at Grinnell College and achieved his MD at the Indiana University of School of Medicine. Prior to joining SEARHC, James worked as a general surgery private practitioner in Seattle.
James says, “I am excited to become a part of the community and serve the people of Southeast Alaska.”
Awards and Honors
James is an Eagle Scout.
James has a special interest in performing minimally invasive surgery to enhance patient experience and reduce recovery times. He has advanced training in bariatric surgery as well as laparoscopic and robotic general surgery. He also sees an expanding role for minimally invasive surgery in the acute care setting.
In his free time, James enjoys backpacking trips in the mountains with friends and family.
