Education and Experience
Amy Fjerstad is an occupational therapist primarily at the Mountainside Rehabilitation Clinic and provides coverage at Sitka Long-Term Care and Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center as needed. She sees a range of people and diagnoses daily.
Amy attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, obtaining degrees in occupational therapy and public health. Prior to coming to SEARHC as a locum, she worked at a critical access hospital on the Oregon coast. She will receive a Lymphedema Therapy Certification in early March and looks forward to offering that service to patients.
She enjoys establishing relationships with patients and celebrating the small successes such as finally being able to turn a doorknob or maybe put on earrings with the affected hand.
Personal Interests
Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, swimming, taking care of her pets and making pottery.
