Education and Experience
Dan holds a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Montana in Missoula, a Masters of Physical Therapy degree from the University of North Dakota, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Cincinnati. Before moving to Klawock in 2007 to start the physical therapy program at the SEARHC Alicia Roberts Medical Center, Dan spent 12 years working in the physical therapy department at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. Dan holds the rank of Commander in the U.S. Public Health Services Commissioned Corps, and he is a certified pedorthist (a person who specializes in using footwear — including shoes, orthotics, and other footwear modifications — to solve problems in the feet or lower limbs).
Dan has special skills in the prevention and treatment of foot complications among patients with diabetes. Dan enjoys kayaking, bicycling, jogging, biking, camping, fishing, hunting and the outdoors. In addition to seeing patients in Klawock, Dan also travels to the Alma Cook Medical Center in Hydaburg to provide physical therapy.
