Sitka – Open enrollment through the Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Marketplace is from November 1, 2017 – December 15, 2017. To help community members navigate the process, SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Outreach and Enrollment Manager, Andrea Thomas is offering a presentation on Wednesday, October 25, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Sitka Public Library. Ms. Thomas will answer questions about applying for insurance on the Health Insurance Marketplace including lowered costs for Premera Blue Cross plans, eligibility for lower-cost health coverage, common problem areas, and how to enroll. She will also discuss Medicaid eligibility and how to apply.
“This year people only have six weeks to renew or apply for coverage on the Health Insurance Marketplace for a January 1st start,” said Andrea Thomas, SEARHC Outreach and Enrollment Manager. “One positive change is that the cost of coverage has gone down, so it is a great time to explore your options.”
