Health Insurance Day hosted by SEARHC and Sitka Public Health

SITKA — Sitka Public Health and SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Outreach and Enrollment are hosting a “Health Insurance Day” on Friday, June 16 from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. The free event will be at the Public Health office, located at 210 Moller Avenue next to Moller Park.

SEARHC Outreach & Enrollment staff will be on site to answer questions related to health coverage and can assist people applying for insurance including Medicaid, the Health Insurance Marketplace, Medicare, and veteran’s benefits.

Outreach and Enrollment Manager, Andrea Thomas said, “Sitka Public Health is an invaluable service to our community; offering services like immunizations, school screenings, family planning, STD testing, and Well-child exams just to name a few. However, at some point, people require medical care that is outside the scope of what is available through Public Health. That’s why having health coverage is important.” Thomas adds, “Health coverage applications can be very confusing. We help people apply for insurance or other benefits, provide information about how to use their coverage, and work to resolve insurance problems.”

The event is free and open to all Alaska residents.

Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are also available. Those that wish to schedule a consultation during the Health Insurance Day event may contact Public Health at 747-3255 or SEARHC Outreach at 966-8662 or 966-8883.
