Patient Travel Advisory

As of November 20, 2024, SEARHC no longer covers hotel accommodations for patients without benefits through PRC coverage, traveling with Medicaid, when Medicaid-enrolled hotels are unavailable. Be prepared and learn more here: Alaska Medicaid Recipient Handbook | Non-Emergent Travel.

SEARHC Patient Housing in Sitka

Many SEARHC patients from outside Sitka visit Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center to receive advanced healthcare services that require little or no hospitalization.

Our Patient Housing facility offers a safe, comfortable place to stay. Rooms have one full size bed and one twin sofa bed. Rooms include coffee maker, microwave and mini refrigerator with freezer.

Patient Housing serves Alaska Native and non-Native patients receiving healthcare services in Sitka. We accept Medicaid payments for lodging, meals, and transportation, and we offer van service to and from the airport and ferry terminal.

Meals are provided at SEARHC’s Island Skillet Cafe, located on the ground floor of the main hospital building.
