John earned a Bachelor of Arts from Sheldon Jackson College in Sitka and later earned his Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in Minneapolis.
Before working for SEARHC, John was the Clinical Director of Youth Advocates of Sitka. Prior to that, he was a clinician proving psychotherapy to children and families for several years and also worked in private practice.
When asked about working for SEARHC, John said, “Since coming to SEARHC I have been able to continue to practice creativity in psychotherapy; work with a fantastic team to optimize our program; and prioritize patient needs as guiding principles in decision making.”
John’s medical interests include, Adolescent Mental Health, and the role mindfulness has in the healing process.
His personal interests involve enjoying evenings and weekends with family and friends, as well as writing fiction for fun and relaxation.
