Biography

Before coming to Alaska, Dr. Bakkes experiences took her across the globe. She worked for Gardiner Family Medicine and Greater Portland Medical Group, both in Maine. Dr. Bakkes practiced medicine at Urgent Treatment Centers in Lexington, Kentucky. She also worked for 24 Hour Surgery (urgent care) in Christchurch, New Zealand and McMurdo Station, Antarctica.

After arriving in Alaska, Dr. Bakkes has worked up north at Maniilaq Health Center in Kotzebue. In Southeast, she has practiced at Alicia Roberts Medical Center, Sitka Medical Center and Sitka Community Hospital. Dr. Bakkes joined the SEARHC Care Network in August, 2019.

When outside the clinic Dr. Bakkes enjoys all that SE Alaska has to offer with her husband, two elementary-aged children, and two yellow labs! Hiking, camping, boating and flying are some of her favorite outdoor activities.

Personal Interests

Professionally, Dr. Bakkes is interested in the broad range of family medicine covering all ages. However at this time she no longer provides prenatal and OB care. She is also interested in women’s health and joint injections.

When outside the clinic Dr. Bakkes enjoys all that SE Alaska has to offer with her husband, two elementary-aged children, and two yellow labs! Hiking, camping, boating and flying are some of her favorite outdoor activities.
