JUNEAU, Alaska – The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) announced it has entered into a letter of intent to transition Juneau Youth Services (JYS) programs to SEARHC.
In recent years, JYS, like many not-for-profits, has struggled with regulatory and administrative burdens, higher operating and infrastructure expenses, COVID pandemic challenges and an extremely tight labor market. These issues combined have made it exceptionally difficult for JYS to continue to carry out its mission.
“This is a step for both organizations to be able to extend our reach to support Alaska’s kids and families by providing a full scope of integrated services,” said Amy Simonds-Taylor, JYS Executive Director.
“Juneau Youth Services has a long-standing legacy serving children and families throughout Alaska,” said Eric Gettis, Vice President of Behavioral Health, SEARHC. “We are excited to have the opportunity to incorporate JYS programs and staff into SEARHC to expand our services to better meet the needs of Southeast Alaska.”
SEARHC and JYS will work together in the coming weeks to develop and finalize the details of a transition plan.
