SITKA – The recently opened Sitka Medical Center (SMC) Express Care Clinic is pleased to welcome Ms. Jackie Bolmer, FNP-C as the clinic’s permanent medical provider.
Jackie comes to Sitka from a lifelong nursing career in Ohio. Having worked as a Nurse Practitioner in family medical practices, specialty clinics, and in the Emergency Departments at two hospitals, she has a full spectrum of medical experience, including pediatrics and women’s health, and is well qualified to assess patients’ medical needs and provide excellent care.
Ms. Bolmer said, “The medical profession allows me to develop caring relationships with patients and their loved ones. I can be a teacher, a counselor, and a resource; I am a calm voice, a kind word, and an advocate to help reduce their burden. Healthcare is truly a calling, and am honored to have devoted my life’s work as a Nurse Practitioner to caring for others when they need it most.”
As for why Jackie chose Alaska, it had something to do with a 2012 trip to Skagway. She said, “It was like the area was calling me. I was thrilled to see the whales, eagles, otters. It seemed like the air smelled better, the water tasted better, and the people were so interesting. I couldn’t stay then, but always knew I would be back. I am so happy to get this opportunity to do what I love in a place like Sitka.”
SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium President and CEO, Charles Clement said, “We are excited that Jackie is joining our care team. We are proud to make quality medical care even more accessible to the Sitka community. Medical care delivered by such a highly qualified medical professional as Ms. Bolmer will mean community members and visitors can feel confident in choosing the Sitka Medical Center Express Care Clinic for some of the care they require.”
The Sitka Medical Center Express Care Clinic is located at 814 Halibut Point Road and is open to all Sitka community members and visitors from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, every Friday through Monday.
