Sitka – The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Patient Health Benefits (PHB) team is inviting Sitkans to a presentation aimed at answering questions about Medicare benefits. The Aging Into Medicare event is hosted by PHB Supervisor Susan Briles and is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30, at Harrigan Centennial Hall in Sitka.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, space is limited, and sign-up is required by April 23. Those interested in attending are encouraged to call 907.966.8920 as soon as possible to reserve a spot.
“Navigating your Medicare options can prove difficult,” said Briles. “It is not uncommon to be unsure of coverage needed and how to sign up. SEARHC Patient Health Benefits is here to help, and the Aging Into Medicare event intends to help patients avoid the pitfalls and penalties.”
The Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Marketplace is currently offering an additional Open Enrollment period for persons needing 2021 health coverage. Patients can sign up for coverage on healthcare.gov through May 15 to reduce the loss of coverage due to the effects of the pandemic.
SEARHC is a Certified Application Counselor agency offering free assistance to all Southeast residents. For more information, call Susan Briles at 907.966.8662 or email the PHB team at outreach@searhc.org. Additional health insurance information can be found at searhc.org/patient-health-benefits.
