SITKA – The end of the Medicare General Enrollment Period is quickly approaching.Those that did not enroll in Medicare Part B during the Initial Enrollment Period when they turned 65 may enroll during the General Enrollment Period from January 1 – March 31, and coverage begins July 1. Enrollment in Medicare Part A is allowed anytime.
It is important to know when and how to enroll to avoid costly penalties. “Understanding Medicare is important but confusing. I’m happy to help people sort it out,” said Susan Briles, Outreach & Enrollment Specialist at SEARHC. “If you need help enrolling or understanding your Medicare options, give me a call.” Susan has been assisting people to find the optimum coverage choices for years, and community members region-wide are encouraged to take advantage of her expertise whether or not they are SEARHC patients.
