SEARHC Expands COVID-19 Vaccine Availability for Children Ages 12-15

Sitka – Anticipating federal approval of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 12-15, SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) is encouraging everyone 12 and older to register to be vaccinated. As with all COVID-19 vaccines approved by the Food and Drug Administration, those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to receive their vaccination.

“COVID-19 patients are trending younger, and those under 50 now represent the largest group of new hospitalizations in our country,” said Dr. Elliot Bruhl, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at SEARHC. “We urge parents and guardians to be proactive in protecting themselves and their community against COVID-19 by getting all eligible children and members of the household vaccinated.”
