Education and Experience
Sean Tomkinson is a licensed clinical social worker and behavioral health clinician at SEARHC’s Alicia Roberts Medical Center.
Before moving to Alaska, Sean worked at the emergency room and psychiatric unit at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho. He also worked with SUWS Wilderness Programs for adolescents and youth (formerly the School of Urban and Wilderness Survival) in Shoshone, Idaho, and with a couple of other community mental health agencies in Idaho.
Sean earned a Master of Arts degree in social work from Walla Walla University in Washington State. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in social work from Idaho State University in Pocatello. His specialty is post-traumatic stress disorder as well as youth and adolescents.
Sean’s medical interests include the use of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety. Outside the office he enjoys hunting, fishing and wildlife viewing.
