Melody earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine and her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota.
Prior to joining SEARHC, Melody lived in Juneau for one year before going back to Minnesota for medical school. During that time, she was able to shadow clinicians at Ethel Lund Medical Center. After medical school, she completed her residency at the Duluth Family Medicine Residency Program in Duluth, MN.
Melody says, “I have been looking forward to joining SEARHC since meeting the fantastic doctors at ELMC. Though I am new to working at Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital, the staff here have already provided ample opportunity to witness strong teamwork and “gumboot determination” in action to provide the best care to the residents of Southeast.”
Personal Interests
Melody has a medical interest in delivering babies and caring for those nearing end of life, and all the stages in-between. She says SEARHC as provided her a unique opportunity to practice this type of broad scope medicine as a family medicine hospitalist. In her free time, Melody is an avid reader of nonfiction and mysteries, a lover of movies and board games, an experimental cook, and an adventurous eater. She looks forward to learning as much as she can about Southeast Alaska and its people.
