Education and Experience
Dr. Melissa deWolfe earned her Master of Public Health (MPH) at East Carolina University, Department of Public Health. Her General Surgery Residency was completed at Brody School of Medicine/Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. Dr. deWolfe attained her medical training at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, earning her Doctor of Osteopathy (DO). Before attending medical school, Dr. deWolfe graduated from Haverford College in Pennsylvania with her Bachelor of Arts degree.
Prior to joining SEARHC, Dr. deWolfe served in the Air Force as an Active Duty General Surgeon. She entered the service under the Health Professional Scholarship Program and separated as a Major upon completion of service owed.
When asked about coming to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center, Dr. deWolfe said she was excited to join the SEARCH community and serve the people of Southeast, Alaska. She especially looked forward to providing outreach to our smaller communities so that everyone has equal access to care.
Dr. deWolfe’s professional interests lie mostly in general surgery (hernia, gallbladder, scopes, etc.). When not working she enjoys yoga, hiking, camping, boating and traveling around Southeast Alaska.
