Kristen L. Homer, NP

Education and Experience
Homer holds a Master of Science in Nursing degree and certificate in nursing from the Yale University School of Nursing. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and anthropology from Middlebury College. She is board certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Before joining the staff at the SEARHC Mt. Edgecumbe High School Student Health Center, Kristen spent 6 1/2 years working at the U.S. Coast Guard-Air Station Sitka Medical Clinic. Before that, she was a public health nurse with the state’s Sitka Public Health Center and a community health aide/practitioner supervisor/field clinician for SEARHC. Kristen also has worked with Planned Parenthood of Alaska. She first came to Sitka as a health-planning intern with the SEARHC in 1990. Before that, she worked in tribal health with the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa in Michigan.
Kristen has medical interests in pediatrics, adolescent and women’s health. She also enjoys reading, hiking, running and spending time with her family.
