Education and Experience

Krissy Smith received her Licensed Professional Counselor credentials (LPC) after attending Walden University and earning her Master of Science in Psychology. At Walden, her dissertation was in general psychology with a specialization in counseling toward her PhD. Krissy also attended the University of Alaska Southeast where she received her AA in general education; AAS in early childhood education; BLA in general studies with emphasis on psychology and history; and a business minor.

Prior to joining SEARHC, Krissy has 18 years of working with families as a childcare provider; intensive needs teams, protective service childcare, etc. She is the local early childhood liaison for the Association for the Education of Young Children Southeast Alaska (AEYC-SEA).

Krissy says, “The transition from AICS to SEARHC has been smooth and seems like a great fit! It has been nice to be able to broaden resources and make connections with other professionals outside of Wrangell.”

Personal Interests

Krissy has a broad range of medical interests, but if she had to narrow it down– she would choose trauma therapy, being able to help people heal and move forward in life. When not in the clinic she is a huge fan of spending time with family and anything that has to do with family. Krissy also loves the outdoors and hunting.
