Kimberly L. Bakkes, MD

Education and Experience
Dr. Bakkes attended Princeton University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. Later she attended medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana where she received both her Medical Doctor and Master of Public Health degrees.
Before coming to Alaska, Dr. Bakkes worked for Gardiner Family Medicine in Maine; 24 Hour Surgery (urgent care) in Christchurch, New Zealand; Urgent Treatment Centers in Lexington, Kentucky; Greater Portland Medical Group in Maine; and McMurdo Station, Antarctica.
Here in Alaska, she has worked at Maniilaq Health Center in Kotzebue; Alicia Roberts Medical Center in Klawock; Sitka Medical Center; and Sitka Community Hospital. Dr. Bakkes joined the SEARHC Care Network in August, 2019.
Professionally, Dr. Bakkes is interested in the broad spectrum of family medicine for all ages, though no longer providing prenatal and OB care. Other interests include women’s health and joint injections.
Outside the clinic she enjoys all that SE Alaska has to offer with her husband, two elementary-aged children, and two yellow labs! Hiking, camping, boating and flying are favorite outdoor activities.
