Education and Experience
Colleen Britt, FNP, is an experienced and compassionate Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 20 years of healthcare experience. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Colleen began her career as a Registered Nurse, working in labor and delivery for 21 years before becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2014. She has served in various rural communities across Alaska, including three years at the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Aniak. Colleen has also worked with the Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, where she served as a Nurse Practitioner and instructor in the Community Health Aide Program.
Colleen specializes in holistic family care and is passionate about addressing both chronic and acute illnesses within the communities she serves.
She has always been drawn to providing care in rural and underserved areas, finding inspiration in the strength and resilience of Alaska’s communities. She sees her role not only as a healthcare provider but also as someone patients can trust for guidance and support. In return, Colleen finds immense fulfillment in the relationships she builds and the true sense of belonging she has found in Alaska.Colleen moved to Ketchikan in 2022 and eventually joined SEARHC, eager to contribute her skills and passion to Southeast Alaska. She was drawn to SEARHC’s mission and the opportunity to continue making a difference in the lives of patients in the region.
Personal Interests
Outside of work, Colleen enjoys walking and hiking with her husband and their dog, fishing wherever water is found, and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren in the Lower 48. She also cherishes her role as “Aunty Doctor” to her friend’s twins and takes pride in being the “cool grandma from Alaska.”
